MY PERSONAL JOURNEY:
My journey into healing and change did not begin in textbooks or classrooms—but in the silent ache of growing up with a deep, unacknowledged wound. I lost my mother at a young age, and with her, I lost a sense of anchoring. In the years that followed, I often felt like a tree without any roots—upright and growing but disconnected from the soil of love and safety.
Throughout my teenage years, I floated between surfaces—doing well on the outside, but inside, carrying a quiet loneliness, unsure of where I belonged or whether I was truly seen. I sought refuge in structure—work, social life, Yoga, meditation, and exercise gave me a sense of rhythm, but they couldn’t touch the ache that lived deeper. That changed when, by chance, I met a counsellor who invited me into a space I didn’t know I needed—a space to be heard, understood and validated.
That conversation was a lifeline. It cracked open the possibility that healing wasn’t just about coping—it was about being witnessed. It was the first time I understood that language could be medicine, and presence could be transformative. What a safe space was. What deep emotional expression meant.
It should come as no surprise that my family knew nothing about my therapy. In the 1990s, mental health wasn’t a conversation—it was a whispered secret. Therapy was still seen as taboo. But I felt called to challenge that silence. So I stepped into the world of psychology—not just to study, but to serve those that were brave enough to seek help. Why were people silently carrying pain that therapy could ease in a short time? It need not take years. That realisation lit the fire I still carry.
Life, however, has its own curriculum.
I moved to Japan, started a family, and for a while, had placed my own ambitions on a shelf. I poured my energy into motherhood and building a life abroad. But over time, the quiet tug returned. Even with a loving family and a full life, there was a hollow space inside—a whisper asking, “Is this it?” It was a turbulent time as I felt out of touch with my own self.
But, that question “What can I do to revisit who I really am? The original me. The one who felt blissful when she was in service of others. kept haunting me’ I was living a narrative that was socially acceptable as a “good wife and mother” but was not fulfilling me wholly. This pulled me back onto my own growth path. I began attending personal development workshops, reading voraciously, and seeking out emotional and spiritual guides who could help me reconnect to living my deeper truth. It had been awhile since I had been a counsellor - could I do this again?
Then came coaching—and something clicked.
Discovering Coaching felt like stumbling upon the exact key I had been searching for. Coaching is a powerful change process. We lve in inner narratives and we can shift these systems of belief to ones more aligned with ourselves. In essence, these conversations were very powerful.
But, I had a longing for even more. Many clients we were focusing on surface change. I was not going to settle for behaviour change or habit change, I was seeking mindset change. Inviting people to become not adapt. Soon, coaching was not enough.
From my experience, I knew that some wounds lived deeper—below the mind, below logic. So I expanded my training. I dove into the world of Inner Child Therapy, ancestral healing, NLP, emotional intelligence, trauma work, and somatic awareness.
Today, I blend these worlds together—psychology and coaching because I’ve lived the truth that healing is never one-dimensional. True change must touch the heart, the mind, and the soul. We are not just thoughts to reframe—we are lives to be honoured.
That’s why I started The Balance Beam.
To offer more than just sessions—to offer sanctuary.
To guide the ambitious and self-aware toward a life that is not only successful—but soul-aligned.
To help people reconnect to their original blueprint, to rewrite their internal narratives, and to live with both power and peace.
Because healing isn’t linear.
Growth isn’t a ladder—it’s a spiral.
And your fullest life doesn’t start with perfection—it starts with presence.
“Leave the safety of how comfortable life is. If held for long, even misery feels comfortable. You will be surprised how easy it will be once you take the first step, to get to the life you were born for. It won’t be easy but you will have support. You won’t be alone. ” Chhaya
“If you ignore the call of unprocessed fear, shame or rage- it will speak up anyway- through your body as physical discomfort, in your heart as poor relationships or in your mind as judgements or opinions - and the result is always suffering. Listen to your feelings and make space for them. This is not your weakness. It’s your hidden strength that needs a voice. Listen and heal your Inner child” Chhaya
“The drive for self improvement lives within all of us. But, lets face it: is that not our blind spot? Because it needs us to let go of seeing the external world as the cause and taking th brave journey within. But we cannot do it alone. We need someone who can be with us through that difficult but ultimately rewarding journey. A life Coach or Inner Child Therapist has the knowledge, skills, , experience and wisdom to be there for you” Chhaya
What People Are Saying
“
Chhaya was a gentle yet tough coach, as she helped guide me through the various issues. She asked very powerful questions and gave good analogies for me to think through my issues
”
“
Chhaya's coaching style is warm, collaborative and awareness building. Chhaya asked great questions, used her intuition and communicated in a very direct/clear way. This all helped me stay focused on my goals, explore what's under the surface and identify the next steps, so that I could keep moving forward. I learned how important it is to be prepared to take a risk as a coach - of sharing your insights, observations and experience even if you might be wrong. I was able to create a strong foundation, complete a major project and design a plan to move forward with my wellness coaching practice in 2017.
